DANGERS MARK THE WAY
We have reason, through the grace of God, that even our toughest times are used by God for our benefit. Even our dangers mark the way of God’s leading. The following illustrates Gods direction: Persecution became so heavy that by the end of the first century the word for witness and the word for martyr became the same. Proper persecution became both a birthmark and a landmark for Christ’s early followers. A spirit-filled worker connected with African Inland Mission told a story which portrays this principle. He said that he often instructed on how to get to a certain point by being warned of various dangers. His directions might relate to a dangerous river crossing, a wooded area inhabited by wild animals, or a snake-infested marsh. When he would come to one of those areas, he would know that he was on the right path. The hazzards actually helped identify his progress. Jesus said righteousness often results in tribulation.
