FAITHFUL FAITH
Fred Lowery tells of a time he played golf with a pastor in Alabama: This man had an unusual sweet spirit and sensitivity of love. In talking with him I learned that he had lost a teenage son in an automobile accident. Then a few months earlier, his son in Dallas — in his twenties — called and said “Dad, I need you. I’m dying and, I have no one to care for me. I have aids.” That pastor and his wife went to Dallas and nursed that boy and took care of him until he died. While his heart was broken, his spirit soared. He was smiling through his tears. I thought this man knows more about God than most of us will ever know. His faith has been tried and emerged as pure gold.
