HURRICANE EMILY’S WAVES
On September 1, 1993, the tourists and residents of North Carolina were spared from the devastation of Hurricane Emily. The hurricane touched the tip of the United States at Cape Hatteras and miraculously turned back into the Atlantic Ocean. The relief was symbolized by a spray- painted plywood sign which read, “Dear Emily, Sorry We Missed You. Thanx for the Waves. Sincerely, Your Locals.” The rain falls on the evil and the good. At times the storms of life are used to bring us closer to the Lord. But how much better when the goodness of God is the agent that leads to repentance. Adapted from a report by The Associated Press
