AGE AND PLATEAUS
A friend of mine describes old age as that time when we run in circles around the last plateau we reach. He says that throughout life we are climbing from one plateau to another. At each plateau we stop for a while and rest, and then we get up and start climbing for another. When we reach a plateau and start running in circles on it, then we are old. This vivid description of old age is also a good description of what happens to many of us in our walk with Christ. We reach a certain point, look up the side of the mountain and quit climbing. Sound familiar? From Get off That Plateau, by Stephen W. Brown, Decision, January, 1988
