My wife and I took our grandchildren to visit my parents in Missouri. When we were ready to leave, my dad gave me a picture of myself. I had sent it to my parents during the second World War. I was dressed in my complete army uniform on which I had pinned my medals. As I walked out the door and into the yard, Amy, my five-year-old grand-daughter, asked, “Who is that? Papa, is that you?” I answered, “Yes, that is a picture of me.” Then she asked, “Did you fight in the war?” I replied, “Yes, I fought in the war.” After we arrived home, my daughter and son-in-law came to get the children.
