DO IT NOW
Among the paintings of Ivan Albright is the striking painting of an old door. From its design, it must have been at one time the outside door of a fine residence. In the picture, however, it is weather beaten and worn. On it hangs a funeral spray of drooping flowers tied with a ribbon, a silent sign that the person who lived in the house is dead. More striking still is the title the artist has given the painting. He calls it “That Which I Should Have Done, I Did Not Do.” Here is a sharp reminder to all of us that our days are fleeting, that death often cuts short our best intentions. What we ought to do, we ought to do it now.
