ANONYMOUS GIVER
Anonymous givers are fascinating. And sometimes shocking. I read recently about an insanely generous man. This is a true story. the man’s name is Charles Feeney. He made his money by owning a great many of those “duty-free” shops you see at airports and other portals. Secretly he’s been giving money away. He’s confessed to his good deeds because he sold his business and is facing a lawsuit that will reveal what he has done. Feeney has been like a Santa with the deepest pockets you ever saw. How much did Feeney give away? Brace yourself. Six hundred million dollars over the past fifteen years. And he’s choked away an additional three-and-a-half billion into his two charities so it can be distributed later. Records show that he still is not poor. He kept five million dollars for himself — about one tenth of one percent of what he gave away. Staggering! Why? What would motivate a man to give like that? Folks…
