FORTY YEARS BEHIND IN RELEVANCE
At a church conference I attended in March 1992, I heard Lyle Schaller say: “If next year is 1953, American churches are going to be in good shape. However, if next year is 1993, then most American churches are serious trouble.” Schaller is absolutely right. During my travels over the past four years, I’ve visited many of our churches. For the most part, they are still doing business the way they did in the 1950s. And churches that continue to do business the way they did in the 1950s will soon be out of business.
