THE CROSS FILTER
In early October our family took a little one-day drive up toward Binghamton, New York. Driving up Highway 17 we were enjoying the beautiful autumn colors that were in full bloom at that time, the reds and yellows and bright oranges and browns in the forests, the trees and bushes, as far as the eye could see — gorgeous scenery. I was wearing some new sun glasses which I bought recently — it was a bright sunny day. At one point, as we were driving along, I took my sun glasses off; I realized that things looked different — not as colorful. Because we’ve had a drought, a very dry summer, the colors weren’t as bright as other years. But there was something in my sun glasses, some kind of filter maybe, which made the colors stand out more brightly.
