FUZZY THINKING
One of the cartoon strips I often use to illustrate sermons is Cathy by Cathy Guisewite. I found one recently that was a perfect example of the great deal of totally fuzzy thinking that runs around in our modern world. Cathy, a young adult single, is shopping for a dress. The saleslady first shows her a dress that looks like something out of “Little House on the Prairie,” and says, “The Hot New Look for spring is the long, flowery, ruffled prairie look.” Then they move on to some really wild looking dresses and she continues, “The Hot New Look is also flashy stripes with fat punk belts . . . and the Hot New Look is pastel Military mini- skirts. They are all the Hot New Look.” But Cathy is skeptical and responds: “These are totally different things.
