WILD THING FEAR
This past August our youth went to Valley Fair, an amusement park in Minnesota. A new roller coaster opened in 1996 called the “Wild Thing,” and our kids were crazy about going on it. Naturally, it was the first one they wanted to ride. Before we hit the “big one,” we warmed up on an easy ride called the “Enterprise.” This ride simply goes in a circle then raises up in the air so the cars are going in an upside down circle at a very high speed. I knew before we went on this ride that one of our boys was apprehensive about these rides when he asked if he could ride with me. This young boy would be appraised by his peers as being strong, athletic and good looking. So why would he pick me, a simple children’s pastor? Because he was scared to death of these rides, and he did not want his friends to see his fears.…
