POSITIVE COMMUNICATION
Check out your communication patterns. How much of your communication with God includes genuine praise and thanksgiving, adoration and gratitude? Are you light on these factors and heavy on the problems and needs you and others have? When you talk to others, how would you rate yourself in terms of the positive? How often each day do you express words of affection to your marriage partner? What about the children? You call attention to their poor behavior. Rightly so. Do you give equal time to positively affirm their good behavior? What about your friend or that business associate? They are faithful, dependable, talented, helpful, fun to be with. You know what they need? Your words of appreciation. The Trauma of Transparency: A Biblical Approach to Inter-Personal Communication, by J. Grant Howard, published by Multnomah, Portland, OR, 1979, pg. 128
