WORTH & GRACE
Years ago a commander decided to reward the work of one of his soldiers by awarding him a Commendation Medal. The commander wrote the award certificate detailing the soldier’s work and activities. He saw the solder as exceptional in the performance of his duties. When the soldier got word of it, he went to his commander and said, “I don’t deserve a medal. I was just doing my job.” The commander looked him in the eye and replied: “When I say you deserve a medal, you deserve a medal.” In the same way, we realize our essential unworthiness while at the same time God sees us as being worthy of his grace and salvation.
