After several mishaps, Andrew, one of the main characters of the comic strip Walnut Cove has gotten himself fired from his job of playing Santa at a Department Store. Standing outside the building in his underwear, he hides behind a bush waiting for his two friends to come pick him up. He’s thinking to himself, “There’s Thurman and Joey pulling up in front of the store. I’ll make a dash for it, and maybe no one will recognize me. I knew I could count on them when the store fired me and took my Santa Claus suit… No matter how much you’ve humiliated yourself, you can always count on your friends to make life a little easier.” In the closing scene, Joey and Thurman are in the car driving away.
