DOES THE GOSPEL WORK?
In the historical novel by Janet Dailey about the movement of the Cherokee Indian Nation out of the Alabama- Georgia territory, there were some interesting comments made by the Indians who were being “attended to” by a young evangelistic minister. He said, “They have names for the missionaries from the different denominations. The Presbyterians are called the Soft Talkers. The Baptists are known as the Baptizers. And the Methodists are called the Loud Talkers.” But the most interesting was a conversation with a chief known as Buffalo Killer. “He had snow-white hair down to his shoulders, and he wore a red-and-yellow-striped turban on his head with a feather plume sticking out the back.
