During a period of economic recession, Sam, a construction worker, was asked by a co-worker for advice on how to manage his budget. “This is how I do it,” Sam said. “I budget forty percent for food, thirty percent for rent, fifteen percent for clothing, ten percent for transportation, twenty percent for utilities and five percent for pharmacy, incidentals and amusement.” The co-worker did a little arithmetic, then said, “But Sam, that adds up to one hundred twenty percent.” To which Sam sadly replied, “Lord, don’t I know it!”
