THE HEART OF IT ALL
The wind chime on our porch deck had been torn apart by the wind and the only item which remained was a long red star with a hole in the middle. On one particular warm spring day, as I sat on the deck, thinking about looking for the other parts, a humming bird with a crimson red throat and green wings just seemed to appear before the star. I could not believe my eyes as I watched this unbelievable creature of God stick its long beak right through the hole in the center of the star. Of this bird dressed in Christmas colors I thought, “Here was a flower with sweetness in its heart.” As the little tongue searched and searched only to find the star empty, you could almost feel the bird’s disgust. Nothing was in the heart of this beautiful red star. In a flash, the bird was gone, never to return. I thought about two facts.…
