MINISTERING OUT OF THE QUIET
I get so much personal help from Christianity Today’s Leadership Library Series of books. A recent one was by Eugene Peterson, pastor of Christ the King Presbyterian Church in Bel Air, Maryland is entitled, The Contemplative Pastor. Written from one pastor to another, he has a great deal to say about the dilemmas all of us face today in our ministry within the crazy, tumultuous and dying culture in which we live our lives today. Here’s a passage from this marvelous and helpful book: In Herman Melville’s Moby Dick, there is a turbulent scene in which a whaleboat scuds across a frothing ocean in pursuit of the great white whale, Moby Dick.
