HEART-FELT INVESTMENT
In December of 1993 Walter Annenberg gave away five hundred million dollars. He captured the headlines by donating this incredible amount of money to public education in America. This billionaire philanthropist had previously contributed another four-hundred and sixty-five million dollars — that’s a total of almost a BILLION DOLLARS to the cause of education. Obviously, Mr. Annenberg cares a great deal about education! The amount one cares is measured by the amount one gives. If the giving is meager, the caring is slight; if the giving is generous, the caring is great. If we wish to measure the concern of God for us, we need only measure the gift he gave. His love was without limit; the gift he gave was that of his eternal Son who laid down his life. Adapted from an Associated Press release as reported by the Fayetteville Observer-Times, December 17, 1993
