JUST PAY ATTENTION
I heard about a factory in which the management conducted an experiment. They thought that improved lighting would boost production. To reduce the financial risk they decided to install the new lighting in only one-half of the factory first, and see what happened. To their surprise, productivity went up throughout the factory, not just in the part with improved lighting. So, bewildered and curious, they moved the lighting to the other half of the factory. Again, productivity increased among all the workers. Still befuddled, they tried removing the new lighting completely. Again, productivity shot up. By this time the management was totally confused, and as a last resort (of course) they asked the workers why productivity had increased each time, regardless of who had the new lighting.
