RUINED BY MONEY
Years ago I had a friend who was a brilliant, compassionate, and generous man. He was a sensitive and caring psychotherapist. Truly, he was a comfort. He was also heir to a sizable estate. One day, he received a check for several million dollars. For weeks, he wandered the streets of Philadelphia’s Central City, trying to decide what he really wanted, what would make him happy. He stood outside the most exclusive jewelry store in the city, thinking to himself: “I can buy anything I want in this store. As a matter of fact, if I wanted to, I could buy the store!” He came to the conclusion that there were only four things he really wanted: a Mercedes, a house in the country, a painting by Tintoretto, and a silver flute.
