CHECK STUBS SPEAK LOUDER
Gerald Mann tells of going with a friend whose mom had just died to gather her things together and close her home. The son picked up his mother’s checkbook and began to thumb through. After every recorded deposit from Social Security, the first check was made out to the church for exactly ten percent of the deposit. Then, came checks for utilities, food, medicine, the grandchildren, and several television evangelists. The son commented, “The story of Mom’s life is in her checkbook.” Gerald Mann concluded, “Check stubs speak louder than words!”
