FLOATING LIGHTSHIP
At one time England’s navigation history records the existence of strange ships that were floating lighthouses. These lightships came in all shapes and sizes, but their purpose was always the same: they were stationed at dangerous reefs and such where the building of lighthouses was either not practical or impossible. When this fleet of ships was discontinued, many were sold for a variety of purposes — scrap parts, floating yacht clubs, and pubs — but a couple of these ships were transformed into a higher purpose. They became floating Christian centers. These ships that once saved the physical lives of those who would otherwise drown now were saving the eternal souls of those who would otherwise drown in their sin, forever separated from the love and fellowship of God. Adapted from Lighthouse Digest, May, 1996
