BETTER BRAZILIAN ELECTIONS
We have some friends who are missionaries in Brazil with ABWE. John and Yvonne Baab work in the area of theological education for local pastors. They produce a wonderful newsletter entitled “The Baab Habbit.” In the December 2000 issue they talk about elections in Brazil. With the confusion in the United States, it was so fun to hear that Brazil seems to have their act together much better than we do. Here’s some of what they had to say: It has been interesting to see the reaction of Brazilians. Many of them are asking why Americans use paper ballots. In Brazil’s election in October, nationwide, as during the past eight years, it’s all on computer. Only in the jungles of the Amazon do they vote on paper, and the results are sent to the computer on election day.
