“The Word was made flesh, He lived among us” (John 1:14).
Remember way back when a husband was not allowed to go into the labor room with his expectant wife? He was told to have a seat in the “Fathers’ Waiting Room” where there was always a good supply of year-old magazines. And his first look at his new-born baby was through a glass partition. These days, of course, with a little preparation he can go into the labor room, and even into the delivery room and be a part of the miracle of birth taking place. But, in either case, the moment finally came when the baby was placed in the father ’s arms for the first time. And, ask any father if he doesn’t remember the sheer sense of wonder he experienced as he gazed at the newborn, helpless, utterly dependent babe he tenderly held in his arms.
