PAYBACK TIME
There have been a handful of truly good commercials on television. Most of them we only see during those special broadcasts which feature the world’s greatest commercials. A couple of years ago, Manitoba Telephone Systems came out with a winner, perhaps not up to some of the foreign ones we sometimes see, but nonetheless a winner. It featured a lovable grandfather talking on the phone with his somewhat rebellious looking granddaughter. She was wearing a leather jacket, had her nose pierced and sported a rather strange looking hair style. She was complaining to her grandfather just how unreasonable her mother was. Her grandfather began to reminisce about when his daughter, the girl’s mother was her age. He went into detail about the pain and stress that she caused him. Then he smiled knowingly and said: “And then she had you….And now its payback time!” The granddaughter grins mischievously at the thought.
