From an interview by Jill Nelson of USA Weekend in 1995, actor and director Ron Howard spoke concerning his family. One of his favorite activities with his family is vacation by car. “I find car trips to be the greatest. I’m physically whipped when one is over. I am doing most of the driving, schlepping the bags, dealing with the kids. But just driving down the road, talking to the kids, listening to the radio, explaining things, hearing what they have to say, talking to my wife. Hitting the motel, jumping in the pool, watching a little television. I get a week of that, I come away stimulated, ready to work, full of ideas.” His novelist and screenwriter wife Cheryl Howard adds, “We love car trips.
