CONCERN OF A KING
Ramesh Richard relates an encounter with a man from the United Arab Emirates who was complaining of a neighboring king who lived in luxury while his people lived in difficult circumstances. The king, one of the ten richest men in the world, seemed unconcerned about his subjects, in total isolation on an island in his man-made lake. His only exposure to the people was flying over them in his helicopter or seeing them from a distance off his multi-million dollar yacht. The man told of how good it would be if the king could relate to his people, to live with them, to really know them in order to rule them perfectly as a credible monarch. Only a good king with credibility could remove the fears and anxieties of his people. But it would never happen: a king would never become a serf. By Ramesh Richard, Reach Newsletter, Winter, 1994
