THE LORD’S FORGIVENESS
Psalm 51:11 “Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.” The most vivid experience of that anguished prayer and its answer that I can recall came into the life of a man in a church where I served one time. It has been over thirty years ago in the learning time of my ministry. He was the town character, and a member of our church. I used to go down to the post office, early in the morning and drink coffee and talk to the men who were the early risers. He was one of them. He was a raucous sort of person. You could hear him all up and down the street with his raspy voice and off color humor. But he and his wife were quite attentive to me and my family. They would often come in early on Sunday evening and bring us eggs or some garden stuff before the evening service.…
