CHRISTIAN MOURNING
About 125 AD, Aristides, the Greek scholar, on explaining the success of Christianity, said, “If any righteous man among the Christians passes from the world, they rejoice and offer thanks to God and they escort the body with songs and thanksgiving as if he were setting out from one place to another nearby.” How is that for explaining the success of Christianity? We celebrate on a different level than do people without hope.
