HE WANTED TO GIVE
Never before in all my ministry had this ever happened! Deanie Sefton, our church secretary, came into my office and said, “You had better come out here. There is a man who wants to give us money.” “Great,” I said. “We can always use some.” “But you don’t understand. I think he needs the money more than we do. You better come out here.” So I left my cubby hole to meet our mystery guest. I was, indeed, as surprised as had been Deanie, to greet a rather scruffy, unkempt gentleman who looked more like the stereotypical “homeless” man than a potential benefactor. As he smiled, he revealed a couple of missing teeth. More often than not we were the benefactors and not the recipients of such visits.
