Devil | Shopping | Temptation

“It was to undo all that the devil has done that the Son of God appeared” (1 John 3:8).

One day the devil followed a married woman to Saks Fifth Avenue. There she spent more money than the family budget would allow. The result, in part, was an expensive, stylish dress. When she arrived home, her husband strongly objected to the cost of the dress. “I couldn’t help buying it,” the wife replied, “the devil tempted me.” “Why didn’t you say, ’Get thee behind me, Satan?’” the husband asked. “Oh, but I did,” insisted the wife. “I said ‘Get thee behind me, Satan’ and do you know what he did? He leaned over my shoulder and whispered, ’My dear, the dress looks great from the back.’”
