GET HIM READY, LORD!
A prayer for preachers: Oh, Lord, give Brother Jones the eye of an eagle, so that he may see sin from afar; luminate his brow with a brightness that will make the fires of Hell look like a tallow candle; glue his ears to the Gospel telephone that connects him to the heavenly skies; nail his hands to the pulpit plow and bow his head down in some lonesome valley where prayer is wont to be said; pizen his mind with the love of the people; turpentine his imagination; grease his lips with ‘possom’ oil; electrify his brain with the lightning of the Word; loosen his tongue with the sledge hammer of Thy power; put perpetual motion in his arms; fill him with glory; anoint him all over with the kerosene oil of Thy salvation, and set him on fire! — Bob Hannah
