In a New York City elementary school, a class of fifth graders were encouraged by their teacher to discuss their feelings about nuclear weapons. The class was called “General Studies” and some of the students complained that the subject was covered in other classes. “This is boring,” one student moaned loudly. “And besides we learned this in American History.”
“This is not boring,” the teacher replied, “and what we are talking about here is not American History . It is Current Events.”
“Current events?” a girl challenged. “We learned Current Events last year!”
