COMPASSIONATE PRAYERS
A group of fanatical Muslims burned several churches in Zaire one night. The next morning a young Muslim who had been one of the torch-carriers passed one of the churches. As the Christians met amidst the ashes, the young man paused to listen, intrigued by their prayer. They did not ask God to avenge their loss. Rather, these Christians prayed that God would forgive those who had burned their building! The Holy Spirit worked in the young man’s life. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior. Now he gives his testimony in churches throughout the area, even in those he helped burn. From the 1989 Annual Report, Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention
