“He began to speak out boldly” (Acts 19:26).
There is an ancient legend in which a holy prophet went into the market place once a week to proclaim against the evil that people do to one another and the good they fail to do to one another. But, week-after-week, month-after-month, year-after-year, the good deeds continued to be outnumbered by the evil deeds. Despite all his efforts, the holy prophet didn’t seem to be making any progress among his people. Finally, his friends and followers came to him and begged him to cease his futile efforts to change people’s hearts. The prophet replied, “I must continue to speak out lest I too become one of them.”
