NOT SO POOR
She was known to her neighbors as Garbage Mary. For each day she could be seen wandering the streets of the small Florida town she called home. She was quite a sight, dressed in rags scavenging through garbage cans searching for food which she proceeded to hide in her small two-room apartment or in her car. To all who came into contact with her, Mary was an old pathetic impoverished woman. One day Mary was picked up by the authorities and confined to a psychiatric institution. But when some court officials went to her apartment to collect a few of her personal things they were astounded. For littering her apartment and car were bank books, stock certificates, oil drilling rights, real estate documents and cash. The value of Mary’s assets was in excess of $1,000,000.00.
