Faith | Direction | Driving | Prayer

“The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His Heavenly Kingdom…”
(II Timothy 4:18).

A woman who was a very faithful Church-goer had just received her driver ’s license. Before putting the key in the ignition for her first solo trip, she prayed for a safe journey: “Lord, please guide my hands to steer this car properly.” Then she began to drive, but soon found herself in an emergency situation behind the wheel: a garbage truck was approaching from the rear, seemingly out of control; and a collision appeared imminent. Inexperienced and panic-stricken, the woman didn’t know how to react, so she threw her arms in the air and cried out, “Lord, You take the wheel!”

The story may be bad as a driving lesson, but it’s not a bad reminder that God is at the wheel and moving us toward our ultimate fulfillment in His Kingdom of Love.
