PRAY IT THROUGH
The testimony of Rees Howells, the renowned intercessor and leader of a powerful corporate prayer gathering, introduced me to the concept of gained ground in prayer. Once we pray through to a place of attainment in the spiritual realm, we can maintain ministries in that realm through prevailing prayer. It appears the enemy must yield up certain strongholds once we bring them down in prayer. S. D. Gordon says it this way: “The enemy yields only what he must. He yields only what is taken. Therefore, the ground must be taken step by step.” Satan intimidates as a pretender prince. Though he walks about as a roaring lion, he was defeated at Calvary. The purpose of our prayers is to enforce the victory of Calvary through faith. At times our efforts to reach out with the claims of the Gospel appear to be stymied.
