The roses in my garden
are more beautiful,
more fragrant,
and give me more pleasure
than any I can buy in a store.
And so it is with my children
who are smarter than all others;
and with my exquisite taste in art;
and with my great life-style.
Unless, of course,
it is the opposite–
and my roses are really runty,
and my children are not so terrific,
and my taste is unsure,
and my life-style is for the birds.
None of which
has to do with reality,
but with the way
I feel today.
