“. . . were not our hearts burning inside us as He talked to us … ?” (Lk. 24:32)
On the fireplace mantle of an old stone mansion in Texas, the following words are inscribed:
IF YOUR HEART IS COLD,
MY FIRE CANNOT WARM IT.
How true! Fireplaces cannot warm our hearts. Neither can aerobic exercises, nor winning jackpots, nor a day at the races, nor a week at the seashore, nor MTV images, nor soap operas, nor dream houses, nor fancy jewels. Only the fire of the Living God — the fire of God’s Love — can warm our hearts.
