THE DECEITFUL HEART OF MAN
The locus classicus on the flushing out of the deceitful heart of man is the oft-quoted story about the four boys who cut class one morning in a Chicago suburb and didn’t get to class until noon. Their explanation was that they had had a flat tire. The teacher said, “That’s OK boys. You did miss a test, but you can make it up right now on your lunch time.” Whereupon, she seated them in the four corners of the room and then gave them the one question on the test: “Which tire was flat?”
