Herb Caen of the San Francisco Chronicle gives the quote of the week honors to our Senator Sam Hayakawa (noted for sleeping in Congress). In the course of an interview on how he plans to conduct his campaign for reelection he said: “I am going to speak my mind because I have nothing to lose.” Stan Delaplane reports on the concerned lady who wrote a letter to the editor about the big royal wedding plans in England. She observed, “I don’t think Lady Diana should rush headlong into marriage with the first guy who asks her.” (San Fransisco Chronicle).
