“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things” (Matthew 6:31-32).
A husband and wife were feeling the crunch of a recessionary economy as sales in the family business fell for the seventh consecutive quarter. They decided that it was necessary to plan a new family budget. With their bills piled high around the kitchen table, the husband suggested that they begin by identifying the essential expenses first. “Let’s start with the basic necessities, dear,” the husband suggested — “Food, clothing and shelter. We have a choice of any two.”
