Ignorance | Faith | Light | Darkness

Let there be light shining out of darkness (2 Cor. 4:6).

The story is told of a desert-dweller who one night lit a candle in his tent. Then he reached into a bowl and got out a fig. He opened the fig and saw that there were worms inside. And so he threw it away. Then he took a second fig, opened it, and saw worms inside. And he threw that one away. Whereupon, he blew out the candle, and in the darkness took a third fig — and ate it.

We’re like that sometimes, thinking that what we don’t know won’t hurt us. But living in the dark can hurt us — does hurt us. That is why Jesus came to bring us Truth and Light. And we know the Truth by the Light of Faith.
