There was an old Pennsylvania farmer who was also an elder in his Church. Since his religion forbids war, the farmer decided that he wouldn’t fight, nor would he pay taxes that might be used to buy guns or armaments for other people to fight with.
Every April 15th, he picketed the IRS Office. On one April 15, a friend came up to him on the IRS office steps and said, “Luke, why don’t you cease and desist? You can’t change the world this way.”
”Who’s trying to change the world?” said Luke. “I’m just trying to keep the world from changing me.”
