Much to the annoyance of his close neighbors, the new tenant in an apartment house had his radio on at full-volume long into the night. After enduring the situation for a week or so, the tenants whose sleep was being disturbed met to discuss ways in which to deal with the problem. The more they talked about the situation, the madder they got. Until, finally, a wise old tenant suggested that they calm down. “The best way to get along with a neighbor who is annoying you in this way is to show him love,” the old man advised. “Yes, you really have to love people in order to put up with them,” he said. One of the other tenants wasn’t buying it. “You mean to say that I should love a fellow who turns on music at full-volume every night at twelve o’clock?” he asked. To which the old man replied, “Well, it’s no trick at all to love someone who has no radio.”
