Nepotism

There is a story about the president of a corporation who called a meeting of all employees just before quitting time one day. Together with a younger, coverall-clad man, he mounted the platform and proceeded to make this speech:

Ladies and gentlemen, you are about to see how conscientious, hard work is rewarded. The man standing beside me has been with this company less than a year, during which time his unusual qualities have earned him several salary increases. I have watched his performance with great pleasure and, therefore, I am pleased to announce that as of now he gets out of his work-clothes and comes into the executive branch of the company with the title of Vice President. His new annual salary will be $80,000. Congratulations to you sir.”

The workman shook the president’s outstretched hand and said, “Gee, thanks, Dad!”
