“They sold their goods and possessions and shared out the proceeds among themselves” (Acts 2:45).
The story is told of a tourist’s visit to a 19th century European clergyman (who was looked upon by his people as an extremely wise and saintly person). On her arrival at the wise man’s residence, the tourist was astonished to discover that it consisted only of one simple room with no furniture except for a single chair. “But where is your furniture?” the tourist asked. To which the holy man replied, “Where is yours?” “Where is mine?” said the puzzled tourist, “I’m only a visitor here, just passing through.” “So am I,” answered the wise man, “so am I.”
