A butcher had suffered a heart attack and was carried to the back of his store. Pale and weak, he sensed there was no hope. The doctor was called. He informed the family that the man would probably die in a matter of minutes.
”Are you there, honey?” asked the man softly. His stunned wife held his hand. “Yes, dear,” she said.
”Louis, are you there?” the stricken man asked faintly.
”Yes, father,” his son replied.
”And Lila, are you there?” whispered the dying man.
”Yes, father,” cried his daughter.
Whereupon, the butcher’s voice rang out loud and clear, “You are all here, so who’s minding the store?”
